Stylized abstractions. One piece brought to mind the Oscar award statue (cast in 1928). The lino-cuts are stylized as well. Both sculptures and prints full of motion. No hidden meanings, everything laid bare. A heroic sense to everything. Catlett’s life was heroic. It would have been interesting to see if she made any working drawings that related to the sculptures.
