To me the wall pieces are about mutilation, not only the form that is mutilated (the human body) but they also contain the tools and constraints used in the mutilation. The coloration suggests burning, charring. When a mutilation is extreme the form changes dramatically into something completely different than it’s original state.
That worktable form may be a torture devise. A very strong and grim statement by the artist. Coming to grips with America’s dark past.

I love the wall sculptures. The surface quality of the metal is gorgeous. I usually don’t like an agglomerate of components, but here they meld together visually, and even evoke a feeling of nostalgia.
