  1. Here is a restaurant analogy: some people order the same dinner every time, say the porterhouse steak (Richard Serra), and some (like Schutte) order a bunch of different appetizers as their meal. Both choices are valid, both do the same thing-satisfy hunger.

    Anyhow, this show is very European. To me most of the subject matter is neo exoticism with the flavor of old European colonialism. But I hope as a critique of those things. Post modernism was mentioned in your discussion, maybe more like post structuralism?

    In many cases I was more interested in the forms that held the sculptural objects than the objects themselves. One thing I did not understand was the use of CDs or that brick veneer on the exhibit walls – were those some sort of statement?
