We at Sculpture Forum are saddened to learn of Frank Stella’s death on May 4th, a week short of his 88th birthday. His celebratory exhibitions at Yares Art and Jeffrey Deitch Gallery, discussed here, have become tributes to an irreplaceable modern master.

  1. It seems to me that these are about a fascination with the latest (at the time) technology. From 3D drawing programs to 3D printers to programmed laser cutters and welding to robotic assembly platforms &etc…. Some sort of industrial/corporate aesthetic that is so far removed from the human hand. No mistakes, a bright colorful and sparkling soulless product. The epitome of the “look ma no hands!” mentioned in another forum by Jock Ireland. Literally.
