Clay-Figure Critique: In Conversation with Garth Evans, New York Studio School

The human figure is an essential touchstone of sculpture, remade generation by generation as it must be today, by contemporary artists. Sculptor Garth Evans provides thoughtful and entertaining life-size figure critiques at the recent Figure Marathon at the New York Studio School, taught by Brandt Junceau. Garth’s conversation with Brandt and his students ranges from consideration of individual artists’ handling of the clay, to the philosophical issues of engaging the human figure, person to person. Recorded June 2022. (video/editing by Rachael Bohlander)
